Let us know how it turns out. I found another site that listed the same command that auggy's site had and copied that and this time it went through, but it did not solve the problem. I found another MS post that suggested using the run program to do a regedit and it showed the command on augy's site was for 32-bit but I have 64-bit so I changed to 64-bit and got that fault was found. But both times I got error messages when I started up my computer so I went back and deleted the regedit, since neither worked.
Now no error messages on start-up, but still no CD-DVD showing in device manager. I also did the system performance check and it found no errors.
So I did not need to do the Wiki article. Sorry I missed the part about checking before doing the Wiki article.
